WHY DOES SKIN AGE? | CAUSES OF PREMATURE AGING

Skin aging is something that concerns all of us. Although it's a fact that we all age, we want to do so in the best way possible, right?

The first signs of aging and skin deterioration begin to appear from the age of 25.

Initially, fine lines appear, and over time, small wrinkles, loss of volume, and decreased skin density become noticeable.

WHY DOES OUR SKIN AGE? CAUSES AND TRIGGERS

First, it's important to note that not all reasons are inevitable and irreversible, but we can age as gracefully as possible.

Understanding the causes will help you approach skin aging prevention naturally.

Skin ages mainly because the cells present stop performing their function properly.

Normally, the resulting effect is a lack of collagen and other proteins such as elastin and hyaluronic acid, which form the main structure of the skin. All of this progressively leads to a loss of radiance and elasticity in the skin, thus initiating the first signs of skin aging.

One of the main external factors that contribute to premature aging of our skin is sun exposure. In fact, it has been proven to affect the skin even more than the passage of time, so be careful! Always protect yourself from the sun's rays.

Other factors such as stress and poor nutrition can accelerate this process.

TYPES OF SKIN AGING

Skin aging has traditionally been classified into two types:

  1. Intrinsic or chronological aging (an exclusive and irreversible consequence of time passing).
  2. Extrinsic aging or photoaging (sun exposure)

Intrinsic aging

From the age of 25, our skin begins to change and age. Its protective barrier function progressively weakens, and the exchange of oxygen in the cells slows down.

As a consequence, the epidermis increasingly loses moisture, and therefore elasticity decreases, leading to the first signs of premature aging.

It is characterized by functional alterations rather than morphological changes in the skin. The visible consequences of this type of aging are: thin and dry skin (due to a reduced ability to retain moisture), pale complexion, decreased subcutaneous fat, and fine lines.

Extrinsic aging

Extrinsic aging develops due to different external factors, and the most aggressive, without a doubt, is sun exposure.

Around 80% of skin aging is caused by UV rays, from the sun or artificial sources (tanning lamps).

These rays are responsible for skin tanning, but also for the risk of sunburn and other diseases.

Other related factors include pollution, smoking, poor nutrition, alcoholism, and physical stress.

There are two main types of UV radiation:

  • UVA radiation. It penetrates clouds, glass, and the epidermis; it is painless and can penetrate deep into the skin to reach dermal cells.
  • UVB radiation. It has a lot of energy and can be blocked by clouds or glass; it can penetrate the epidermis. It is responsible for tanning, but also for sunburns, allergic reactions, and skin cancers.

MINIMIZING THE EFFECTS OF AGING. SOLUTIONS

By understanding skin aging, it becomes easier to adopt solutions to treat it. These effects can be minimized through holistic approaches, which will involve changes in lifestyle and skin care:

  1. Lifestyle

Oxidative stress is one of the external skin aging factors that causes free radicals to damage the DNA, fats, and proteins in our body. It is, therefore, one of the main causes of our skin's aging.

Any lifestyle change implemented should aim to minimize the effects of oxidative stress.

      2. Nutrition

Follow a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, as this will ensure an intake of antioxidants which help minimize the damaging effects of free radicals.

Some foods are known for their high concentration of antioxidants and could even act as skin protectors. Where can you find them?

  • Carrots, apricots, oranges, blueberries…
  • Green leafy vegetables, bell peppers, tomatoes…
  • Salmon

     3. Smoking

Smoking significantly increases skin aging, reducing elasticity and leading to a dull complexion.

Quitting smoking will help improve the appearance of your skin due to the exclusion of the chemicals and nicotine present in nicotine.

     4. Topical skin care

At each stage of life, skin changes. And this should be reflected in how it is cared for and its needs over time.

A good topical care routine is essential to treat the signs of premature skin aging: loss of volume, loss of density, wrinkles, expression lines, etc.

Follow a good skincare routine to keep your skin beautiful:

  1. Cleansing.

It is very important to remove makeup at night, dirt, and chemicals from the skin. It is one of the key procedures, given that the presence of chemicals on the skin triggers the oxidative stress we mentioned earlier.
  2. Care.

Hydrate your skin; it is a key factor for healthy skin. Use products appropriate for your skin type, and care for it according to its specific needs. The active ingredients that help prevent aging are: hyaluronic acid, Q10, and collagen, among others. But also, protect your skin from UV/UVA rays to prevent skin aging.

     5. Skin care from within - Nutricosmetics

Following these steps is very important for skin care, but it is also important to take care of yourself from within with nutricosmetics.

Nutricosmetic products ensure skin care from the inside out.

It is a key factor in skin performance, providing it with the ability to protect and regenerate itself.

The formula of SKIN MOLECULE X contains high-quality marine collagen, hyaluronic acid, coenzyme Q10, and 100% of the recommended daily intake (NRV) of vitamins and minerals necessary to obtain real benefits and strengthen your body from within, with a pleasant orange flavor.

Hola. Voy a empezar mi tercera caja.
Gracias y Saludos.
